Bailey completes Boston race

BOSTON - No one can question Jeff Bailey's consistency.

Over the course of 26.1 miles, the Portland man's time per mile varied by just two seconds from November's New York City Marathon to the Boston Marathon he ran Monday.

Bailey finished the Boston race in 4 hours, 9 minutes and 59 seconds to finish 3,923rd in his division and 10,255 among male participants overall in a total field of 25,000.

Robert K. Cheruiyot won the men's event for the fourth time, finishing more than a minute ahead of the rest of the field in 2:09:04.

Bailey's time at Boston - he averaged a 9:32 mile - was just 39 seconds slower than in New York, where his average mile was 9:30. He was ahead of his New York pace by 52 seconds at the 10K mark (58:30) and by more than three minutes at the midway point (2:01:13).

The 44-year-old participated in the race to raise money for Habitat For Humanity in Boston and Jay County.[[In-content Ad]]
