JCHS baseball

MUNCIE - There were plenty of fun moments Saturday for the Patriots.

Game one saw Josh Ludy hit a home run for the fourth straight game. In game two, sophomore Phil Powell earned his first career win.

And those were just a couple of the highlights for the Jay County baseball team as it improved to 8-2 with wins of 12-0 in six innings and 12-4 over the host Muncie Southside Rebels.

Ludy, who homered against Adams Central Monday, Union City Tuesday and Connersville Wednesday, went deep again with one of the Patriots' three home runs in the opening game.

Leadoff hitter Michael Jobe and senior Rhett Retter also went deep.

The home run powered a 3-for-3 day for Ludy, who also had a double, three runs and three RBIs. Jobe tripled and scored two runs, and Retter finished with three RBIs and a run.

Casey Waters added a double, and Thomas McCowan finished 2-for-4 with two runs.

The big offensive game supported a two-hit effort from Andy Hughes, who improved to 3-0. He struck out 12 and walked two in six innings.

Powell pitched two innings, struck out two and allowed three runs, and the Jay County offense racked up another 12 runs to give him the win.

McCowan and Trey Dunn led the effort, each finishing with three hits, including a double.

Dunn scored twice and drove in a run, and McCowan finished with a pair of RBIs.

Tony McCowan added two hits, including a triple, and two runs, and Josh Selvey finished with two hits and two runs.[[In-content Ad]]
