Patriot boys fall short

MUNCIE — The Delta Eagles broke a 1-1 tie with 11 minutes left in the second half Thursday to defeat the Jay County High School boys soccer team 2-1.
Junior midfielder and the Patriots’ leading scorer Alex Abbott tied the game for Jay County (1-2-1) 18 minutes into the second half on a penalty kick, his seventh goal of the season and fourth PK goal.
Jared Schlosser led the Patriots with five shots on net, and Nathan Heitkamp and Jacob Schlosser added two shots each.
The Patriots return to the pitch at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Connersville.

JC golfers fall
RICHMOND — Sydney Mathias shot a career-low 47, but it wasn’t enough as the Jay County girls golf team fell to the Richmond Red Devils 206-219 Thursday at Highland Lake Golf Course.
Maddison Baughn posted the No. 2 score for the Patriots with a 49, and Katlin Petro (59) and Abby Saxman (65) rounded out the team score.

Angela Roggero posted a  score of 50 to lead the Red Devils.

Patriot JV wins
Sid Ireland recovered a late fourth-quarter fumble to seal the Jay County High School junior varsity football team’s 22-20 win Monday over the Delta Eagles.
Alex Stout, Levi Stant and Joey Link all scored touchdowns for the Patriots (1-0).

JC freshmen blanked
The Jay County freshman football team was shut out by the Delta Eagles Monday by a score of 55-0.
The JV and freshman teams will be back in action Tuesday night at home as they host the Blackford Bruins.[[In-content Ad]]
