Patriot club wins 10 events (06/23/06)

NEW HAVEN — The Patriot Track Club picked up 10 victories in their meet at New Haven Tuesday with four athletes scoring a pair of wins.

Dexter Shreve and Andrew Lancaster paced the team in the 15-16-year-old boys field events. Shreve was first in the long jump and high jump, and Lancaster picked up wins in the discus and shot put.

Tevin Nichols was victorious in the 13-14-year-old boys discus and 1,600-meter run, and Jill Roughia took wins in the 19-24-year-old women’s 800 and 1600 wins.

Other first-place efforts came from Joe Imel in the 13-14-year-old boys 200 dash and Wendy Haffner in the 25-30-year-old women’s 100 dash.

Imel also placed second in the 100 dash.

Baxter Holdcroft was second in the 15-16-year-old boys shot put and discus.

Rhoades leaving SA

BERNE — Just a week after hiring a new boys basketball coach, South Adams High School is looking for an athletics director.

Steve Rhoades, who has been at South Adams for five years, was hired Monday by the Garrett-Keyser-Butler School Board as the Garrett High School athletics director. His resignation from South Adams, where he was the AD for high school as well as junior high programs, is effective immediately.

Rhoades was hired for the South Adams job in 2001, replacing 13-year veteran AD John Phillips.[[In-content Ad]]
