GASTON - Ben Vance carried the offense, and three other players scored touchdowns to lead the Jay County freshman football team to a 20-0 victory over the Wes-Del Warriors.
Vance ran the ball 15 times and gained 170 of the Patriots' 248 yards on the ground. Scott Houston, Alex Langenkamp and Jacob Chenoweth each had touchdown runs.
Drew Locke led the defense in the shutout with six tackles, and Vance and Adam Coats each had an interception. Jay County is now 3-2 on the year.
Duke leads East Jay
MUNCIE - Andre Duke scored a pair of touchdowns as the East Jay Middle School seventh grade football team defeated Muncie Wilson 24-0 Wednesday. The Chief eighth graders lost 14-6.
Duke extended East Jay's lead to 16-0 with his first touchdown, a 43-yard run in the first quarter. He added a 31-yard scoring run in the third quarter.
Julian Myers scored the Chiefs' first touchdown on a 45-yard run. Myers, Duke and Cameron Bentz each ran for a two-point conversion.
D.J. Teeple scored the lone touchdown for East Jay's eighth graders on an 81 yard pass from Brendan Reed in the fourth quarter.[[In-content Ad]]
