The Patriots earned a share of the record Tuesday. They’ll get a chance to break it Thursday.
With a couple of victories in its home pool — 82-17 over Hagerstown and 88-13 over Blackford — the Jay County High School girls swim team tied the school record for wins with their 11th.
That matches the mark set in 1976 and repeated in ’91, ’92 and 2000, and the Patriots can break the record when they close their regular season Thursday at Marion.
The JCHS boys also earned two wins, 71-26 over Blackford and 55-34 over Hagerstown.
In her final home dual meet, senior Megan Taylor was one of seven individuals to earn victories for the Patriots as she took the diving competition with 178.05 points. French foreign exchange student Charlotte Becot was first in 2 minutes, 7.62 seconds in the 200 freestyle.
Senior Neal Fennig earned a pair of victories for the boys team, taking the 50 freestyle in 23.74 and the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.66. Wiley Young took the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.
Other victories came from Eme Miller, Mary Hudson, Alyson Lucas, Caitlin Mark and Julie Valentine for the girls team, and Alex Sutton for the boys.
