Patriot JV spikers take two wins (09/24/07)

Jay County High School's junior varsity volleyball team won both of its matches Saturday, defeating Marion and Adams Central to improve to 12-3 on the year.

Kelsey Wood led the Patriots to a 25-14, 23-25, 15-6 victory over Adams Central in their opening match. She had 13 points and nine digs, both team highs, along with five kills and one block.

Taylor Burris contributed 11 points and five kills. Ashley Franklin racked up a team-best eight kills, Lacey Randolph came up with five digs and Laura Castillo had one block.

Ashley Langenkamp had six kills, two digs and a block in the 25-20, 25-21 win over Marion. Burris scored eight points, and Liz Walker added 11.

Franklin had five kills, Castillo notched two digs and Randolph added a block.

Tribe spikers split

FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery freshman volleyball team settled for a split Saturday, topping Celina 25-14, 25-11 before falling 25-16, 25-22 to Russia.

Shelby Brunswick led the Indians to the victory with seven points, three kills and three assists. Nichole Kaiser also had seven points to go along with five assists.

Barbie Link had seven points, Holly Thien notched three kills and Deanna Hemmelgarn added two digs.

Brunswick finished with five points and six assists in the loss to Russia, Kaiser had five points and two kills and Haley Wilson totaled five points and two digs. Caitlin Gehret had a team high with four kills.

Rockets tops Fort

ANNA, Ohio - Fort Recovery's junior varsity football team fell 36-0 Saturday to the Anna Rockets.

The loss dropped the Indians to 1-4 on the year.[[In-content Ad]]
