Patriot netters dominate
JCHS girls tennis
MUNCIE - Less than halfway through the season, the Jay County High School girls tennis team has already matched its win total from each of the last two years.
The Patriots rolled to a 5-0 victory Thursday over the Olympic athletic Conference rival Muncie Southside Rebels. They are now 5-3 with nine regular-season matches still remaining.
JCHS finished 5-10 last season and 5-13 in 2008.
Mariah Clark led the JCHS domination with a big win at No. 2 singles. She clobbered McKenzie Meadows, giving up just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Alyssa Rigby added a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Jamie Smith at No. 3 singles, and Ashley Caupp and Danielle Chenoweth won their No. 2 doubles match 6-2, 6-0 over Samantha Blankenship and Sarah Hirst.
At No. 1 doubles Emily Huntsman and Becky Muhlenkamp cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Taylor Lampke and Noelle Gudger. And in the No. 1 singles match Kayla Martin turned in a shutout first set on the way to a 6-0, 6-4 win over Jennifer Lewis.
Junior varsity
The entire Patriot team gave up just a single game in a 3-0 victory over Southside.
Brittany White and Joni Degler won their matches at No. 1 and 2 singles respectively by 8-0 scores over Jadelyn Reed and Megan Field. Chelsea Kimmel and Jessica Ooten beat Reed and Field 8-1 at No. 1 doubles.[[In-content Ad]]
