Patriot spikers beat Union County

NOBLESVILLE - The Jay County High School volleyball team came up with its second win of the year Saturday, knocking off Union County at the Noblesville Invitational.
The Patriots won their final match of the day 26-24, 23-25, 15-5 over Union County and are now 2-13 on the year. They lost 26-24, 25-13 to Frankfort, 25-15, 25-12 to the host Millers and 25-21, 25-11 to Class A No. 4 Wes-Del.
Maria Murphy led JCHS (2-13) to its victory with 11 points, including five aces, and five kills against Union County. Ashley Langenkamp had eight assists and eight points, Kelsey Wood totaled eight kills and Lacey Randolph had seven digs.
For the tournament Langenkamp had 28 assists and 15 points, and Murphy notched 16 kills and 13 points. Wood and Mariah Hornaday each had 11 kills, Danielle Wellman came up with 15 digs, Liz Walker recorded 17 assists and Randolph added 13 digs.
Netters last in OAC
MUNCIE - The JCHS boys tennis team finished last Saturday in the Olympic Athletic Conference tournament.
The Patriots (2-9), who were second last season, lost 5-0 to both Connersville and Anderson Highland and 4-1 to Muncie Southside. They defeated the host Rebels 4-1 earlier in the season.
Seth Ainsworth and Austin Cowan recorded the lone victory of the day for the Patriots at No. 2 doubles.
They beat Southside's Wesley Sexton and Jacob Drummer 6-2, 6-4 for their team-high fourth win of the year.

DECATUR - The East Jay Middle School sixth grade volleyball team finished 2-3 Saturday at the Bellmont Invitational.
The Chiefs defeated Wyneken Memorial and St. Joseph, and suffered losses against Zion Lutheran and Bellmont's Blue and Red squads.
Kylie Osborne led EJMS in the tournament with 23 points and seven kills. Lexie Hudson scored 21 points, and Hanna Lykins also had seven kills.[[In-content Ad]]
