Volleyball roundup

NOBLESVILLE — The home of the Millers was not kind to the Patriots.
The Jay County High School volleyball team dropped all four of its matches Saturday at the Noblesville Invitational, including three-game losses to Huntington North — 17-25, 25-23, 16-14 — and Plainfield — 19-25, 25-18, 15-13. The team also fell 25-23, 25-17 to Wes-Del and 25-23, 25-18 to Union County.
Senior Maria Murphy led the Patriots, who dropped to 7-7, for the tournament with 28 points, 21 kills and 4.5 blocks. Eleven of her points came in the loss to Huntington North.
Alyssa Rigby had 31 digs and 30 points, and Mariah Hornaday totaled 33 kills and five blocks. Hannah Ainsworth put up 50 assists, and Jennifer Dirksen finished with 23 digs.

Starfires go 1-2
WABASH — South Adams’ volleyball team picked up one win at Saturday’s Wabash Tournament.
The Starfires’ victory came by a 25-21, 25-17 score over Allen County Athletic Conference rival Bluffton. They lost 25-14, 25-20 to the host Apaches and 26-24, 25-23 to Southern Wells.

FR freshmen split
WAPAKONETA, Ohio — Rachel Pugh led the Fort Recovery freshman volleyball team to a 21-25, 25-23, 25-14 victory Saturday over Benjamin Logan, but the Indians dropped their second match 26-24, 25-9 to Memorial (St. Marys).
Pugh racked up 13 assists, five digs, five service points and three kills in the win over Benjamin Logan. Caley Schoenherr added five service points and three kills, and Karla Eichenauer had nine digs.
In the loss to Memorial,  Pugh finished with three service points for the Tribe (3-2).

Chiefs finish 2-1
DUNKIRK — The East Jay Middle School volleyball teams each went 2-1 at Saturday’s West Jay Invitational with wins over South Adams and the host Eagles. Both squads lost to Wes-Del.
Britlyn Dues paced the seventh grade Chiefs with 18 digs, including 11 in the win over South Adams, and 10 kills. Abby Barcus added 13 kills and 13 digs, and Gracie Runkle had 12 aces.
Abby Reier finished with 16 points and seven aces to lead the EJMS eighth graders.
Sierra Trobridge totaled 13 service points and nine assists, and Kylie Osborne had eight kills.

Tribe squads roll
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s eighth grade volleyball team defeated the Ansonia Tigers 25-15, 25-16 Saturday, and the seventh grade team won 25-12, 25-20.
Jackie Heiser led the Indian eighth graders (2-2) with 10 service points and a pair of digs. Julie Wendel had eight points, and Morgan Lennartz finished with four kills.
Emily Hart scored nine service points for the Fort Recovery seventh grade team (2-2).
Logan Ranly added five points, and Devon Post had three kills.[[In-content Ad]]
