Patriots 16th at invitational

JCHS boys golf

YORKTOWN - Jay County High School's boys golf team placed 16th out of 20 teams Saturday at the Muncie Invitational hosted by Muncie Central.

The Patriots finished at 344, winning a tie-breaker over Anderson to take the No. 16 spot. Unranked Center Grove won the tournament with a score of 295, fighting off runner-up No. 8 Norwell and five other state-ranked foes.

Other ranked teams at the tournament at The Playerss Club included No. 18 Bedford North Lawrence (299), No. 2 Avon (299), No. 4 Yorktown (304), No. 5 Carmel (305) and No. 16 Zionsville (305).

Adam Gray powered Jay County with a 3-over-par 75, which included six pars on the front nine and six more on the back. He had his team's only birdie of the day on the 469-yard, par-5 15th hole.

Drew Imel of Norwell won medalist honors at 69, and Carmel's Connor O'Neal finished one stroke back.

Adam Mescher turned in the No. 2 score for the Patriots as he parred holes one through four at TPC. He finished with eight pars as he tallied an 87.

Chase Wellman and Drew Houck each had five pars as they shot matching 91s. Isaac Poole finished at 93.[[In-content Ad]]
