Patriots bounce back vs. AC (04/25/07)
JCHS boys golf
GENEVA - The Patriots didn't let Monday's rough round faze them.
Jay County's boys golf team shrugged off its worst round of the season and shot 22 strokes better Tuesday at Wabash Valley Golf Course. The score was more than enough for a victory as JCHS defeated the Adams Central Jets 175-205.
Sophomore Adam Gray again had the best score for the Patriots with a 40, but senior Chris Shannon also came up big as he finished just one stroke back of the match medalist at 41.
Shannon was responsible for Jay County's only birdies of the night. And he had two of them.
He notched birdies on the 505-yard, par-5 11th hole and the 340-yard, par-4 13th with a par in between on the way to the No. 2 score for the team.
Gray parred the 11th, 12th and 13th holes and played even on the 120-yard, par-3 15th to finish at a match-best 5-over-par.
Justen Moser had two pars and Gray Suman finished with one as they completed the team score with matching 47s. Jonathon Fennig added a 48.
Junior varsity
Luke Darby led Jay County to a 184-211 win over the Jets.
Darby finished his round with two pars to lead the Patriots with a 42. Aaron Daniels and Kyle Wellman each finished at 47, and Adam Horn followed with a 48.[[In-content Ad]]
