Patriots cruise past MS

MUNCIE — A second meeting with Muncie Southside was a boon for the Patriots’ scoring average.
Jay County High School’s boys soccer team tallied seven goals against the Rebels for the second time this season, rolling to a 7-0 victory Tuesday in the semifinal round of the sectional tournament at Muncie Central.
The Patriots (9-5-3), who also defeated Southside 7-3 during the regular season, will play the winner of tonight’s game between Yorktown and the host Bearcats in Saturday’s sectional championship game at 5 p.m.
Aaron Loy led Jay County, scoring its first goal seven minutes into the game off an assist from Colton McCombs. He added a second goal, and assisted on a score by Alex Abbott.
Dillon Ainsworth also scored twice for the Patriots, and Jacob Schlosser and Alex Dunn added one goal apiece.

FR freshmen fall
FORT RECOVERY — The visiting Coldwater Cavaliers controlled the action Tuesday as they handed the Fort Recovery freshman volleyball team a 25-8, 25-13 defeat.
Jurnee Bechtol had six digs and two service points for the Indians, who dropped to 5-7. Karla Eichenauer added five digs and two service points, Rachel Pugh had two kills and Emilie Sheridan finished with two assists.

Eagle spikers roll
DUNKIRK — West Jay Middle School’s seventh grade volleyball team knocked off visiting Hartford City 25-15, 25-19 Tuesday.
Abigail Lowe finished with 14 points, including 13 in the opening game, to lead the Eagles. She scored eight of her points on aces.
Lily Rogers added seven service points, including six aces, and two kills.
Rangers top Fort
NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — The Fort Recovery eighth grade volleyball team suffered a 25-2, 25-9 loss Tuesday to the New Knoxville Rangers, and the seventh graders lost 25-12, 25-11. Both teams slipped to 6-8.
Kirsten Jutte finished with three service points and an assists for the eighth grade team. Morgan Lennartz added one kill and one block.
Abby Wenning totaled two assists for the seventh grade squad. Emily Hart and Lexi Sheffer had two service points apiece.[[In-content Ad]]
