Local roundup

KOKOMO — The Jay County High School girls basketball team scored 18 points in the fourth quarter Monday, but its rally came up short as the Patriots fell to the Kokomo Wildkats 40-33.

Jay County (5-7) forced six fourth-quarter turnovers, but could not overcome the 14-point Kokomo (5-4) lead to start the final period.
Love led all scorers with 12 points, all on 3-pointers.
Catherine Dunn had a team-high 11 points for Jay County. Ava Kunkler added eight points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Fort adds two to Hall
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Athletic Hall of Fame will grow by two members Saturday.

Jenny (Etzler) Fledderjohann (1991) and Tyler Niekamp (2003) will be the newest members of the Hall of Fame, putting the total to 33 members since its inception in 2007.
The duo will be honored between the varsity and junior varsity boys basketball games against Lincolnview.
Fledderjohann, a three-sport letter winner, was a standout in volleyball and basketball for the Indians. She contributed to the 1990 Division IV state volleyball title and back-to-back Division IV state basketball championships in 1990 and 1991.
She was a first-team All-Midwest Athletic Conference selection in volleyball in 1990 and All-MAC honorable mention in basketball.
Niekamp ran track and played football and basketball for the Tribe.
He placed third at the Division III state track meet in high jump and holds the school record of 6 feet, 8 1/4 inches.
Niekamp earned first-team All-MAC honors twice in both football and basketball. He amassed 1,024 career points on the court, and his 52-point effort against Waynesfield-Goshen in the 2003 sectional tournament is the third-most for a single game in school history.[[In-content Ad]]
