Patriots, Indians to renew rivalry

Local roundup

The Patriots and Indians are ready to battle again.
School officials signed a contract this morning to renew the state-line rivalry between Jay County and Fort Recovery high schools in boys basketball.
The Patriots and Indians will end a four-year hiatus when they meet during the 2013-14 season. The two-year contract calls for games Dec. 28, 2013, at Fort Site Fieldhouse and the following season on Jan. 3, 2015, at JCHS.
Jay County and Fort Recovery played in boys basketball for the first time in 1997 and met every year through 2006-07. The schools then took a year off before playing again in 2008-09.
The Indians lead the all-time series 7-5. Seven of the meetings between the two schools have been decided by three points or fewer.
