Patriots place ninth at Marion (08/08/06)

MARION - The Jay County High School girls golf team finished ninth at the Marion Invitational Monday.
The Patriots finished with a team score of 453, just two behind Peru.
The host Giants won with a score of 334, and Huntington North was 20 strokes back in second place.
Junior Trisha Champ turned in 10 of Jay County's 11 pars on the day, including four in a row on holes two through five. She closed out the front nine with two more pars for a 4-over-par 40, then shot 44 on the back for her sixth place 84.
Senior Ashley Bunch had the only other par of the Patriots on the par-3 eighth hole at Arbor Trace Golf Club. She shot 55 on the front nine and finished at 115, 15 strokes better than in 2005.
Miranda Denney and Brittany Lewis rounded out the Jay County team score with totals of 125 and 129 respectively.
