It took the Patriots less than two minutes to get on the scoreboard. Before the three-minute mark passed, they were up 3-0.

Jay County High School's boys soccer team won its fifth straight game Tuesday, dominating the visiting Union City Indians 9-3.

Brad Horn opened the scoring for JCHS (5-1), which has been perfect since a 4-0 loss to Muncie Central in the season opener, with his 14th goal of the season with just 1:44 off of the game clock. Twenty-six seconds later Patrick Johnson found himself 1-on-1 with the Union City goalie and converted the goal, and he pushed the Patriots to a 3-0 lead with another score at 37:02.

Chris Franco of the Indians got his team on the board less than a minute later, but Jay County was far from finished. Ben Brandt scored off of Alex Dunn's second assist of the game, and Brad Horn scored two more times in the opening half for a 6-1 advantage.

The Patriots, who went heavily to their bench after the opening five minutes, got second-half goals from Aldo Castro, Adam Abbott and Aaron Loy to push to an eight-goal lead. Earnest Martinez and Omar Calderon scored for Union City in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Chris Stephens finished with two saves for Jay County, and Adam Daniels had one save.
