BLUFFTON — Jay County went 1-1 Tuesday as it played what was, in effect, a warm-up for Saturday’s sectional tournament.
The Patriots scored a 232 at Timber Ridge Golf Course, where they will return Saturday for sectional action with a scheduled tee time of 11:20 a.m.
Southern Wells had the best score at the three-team meet with a 210, and Blackford finished at 239.
Liz Lewellen of Southern Wells was the match medalist with a 48.
Trisha Champ had the best score of the match with a 51 for Jay County although she went through an up-and-down day. She opened with a bogey and a par on the first two holes, but then went triple-bogey, double-bogey, double-bogey on the next three.
She bounced back for a par on the 112-yard, par-3 sixth and also played the 424-yard, par-5 seventh even, but struggled on the next par-3. She needed 10 strokes to finish the 151-yard, par-3 eighth hole before bouncing back for a par on the 338-yard, par-4 ninth to finish her round.
Miranda Denney followed up her all-conference honorable mention performance at the Olympic Athletic Conference meet Monday with a 55 against Southern Wells and Blackford. She had bogeys on the 274-yard third hole and the 289-yard fourth, both par 4s.
Alissa McMillan was the only Jay County player other than Champ to record a par as she played even on No. 3. She finished at 61.
Ashley Bunch finished the team score with a 65, and Cindy Muhlenkamp shot 68.[[In-content Ad]]
