Practice begins Monday (07/17/2008)

Optional practices for the East Jay Middle School cross country team start next week.

The practices will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. Those taking part should meet at the Powerhouse at Jay County High School.

Attends conference

Trey Dunn of Jay County High School will be one of two representatives from the Indiana High School Athletic Association this week at the National Federation of State High School Associations Student Leadership Conference. The conferect began today in Indianapolis and runs through Sunday.

About 300 student and adult delegates from 28 states, Canada, and Israel will be taking part.

Softball sign-up

There will be a five-week fall softball league beginning on Aug. 24. All games will be played at the Jay County High School softball diamond on Sundays. Each teams will play two games every Sunday.

The cost of the league is $95. All playerse will receive two t-shirts, one team shirt, and one league shirt. The deadline for registration is Aug. 3.

Wear pink

For the second year in a row, the Fort Wayne Wizards will take to the field in pink jerseys as part of a benefit for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. The event is set for Friday, Aug. 15.

The jerseys will be raffled and auctioned during the game. Last year's event raised $3,020.[[In-content Ad]]
