Rebels defeat Jay County golfers (09/07/06)

MUNCIE - Jay County will be in for a fight when it hosts the Olympic Athletic Conference golf tournament Monday.

The Patriots fell to OAC foe Muncie Southside Wednesday, dropping a 197-209 decision to the host Rebels at Crestview Golf Course. Jay County dropped back below .500 with the defeat.

Trisha Champ earned medalist honors for JCHS (4-5), opening with back-to-back pars. She added a third par and four bogeys in her round of 43.

Kacey Bennett had the low score for the Rebels with a 46. Kristen Church followed with a 47, and Monica Sheffield carded a 54.

Miranda Denney had one par to follow Champ with a 53. Jennifer Hunt had a 56, Brittany Lewis shot 57 and Ashley Bunch finished at 58.

Ivy Simons had the top junior varsity score for Jay County with a 56.

SA falls to Bellmont

GENEVA - The top three scores for the visiting Bellmont Squaws were all better than the top score for the South Adams girls golf team, which lost 189-235 Wednesday.

Mara Gerber had the top score for the Starfires at Wabash Valley Golf Club with a 50.

Loramie tops Recovery

MINSTER - With just three golfers, Fort Recovery did not have enough for a team score Tuesday, giving the Fort Loramie Redskins (188) the victory at Arrowhead Golf Club.

The top score from the Indians came from Betsi Gagle, who shot 57.

Amy Hart finished at 76, and Steph Will had a 78.[[In-content Ad]]
