FORT RECOVERY — Another meet brought two more record-breaking efforts from Aaron Vagedes.
The Fort Recovery High School junior snapped a couple of his own marks as the Indian boys track team scored 29 points to finish behind Crestview (85) and Spencerville (61) in three-team action. Spencerville won the girls competition with 70 points ahead of FRHS (56) and Crestview.
Vagedes racked up four wins for the Tribe, breaking school records with times of 11.2 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 23 seconds flat in the 200 dash. He had set the records Friday at 11.3 and 23.3 respectively.
He was also first in the 400 dash in 53.7 and the long jump at 19 feet, 1 ½ inches.
Holly Brunswick took the high jump at 5 feet and the long jump at 13 feet, 6 inches for the girls. Other victories came from Sam Tobe (1,600 run), Mikayla Westgerdes (discus) and Kylie Kahlig (shot put).

Starfire track rolls
BERNE — The host South Adams girls team scored 63 points Tuesday to defeat the Garrett Railroaders (57) and Adams Central Flying Jets (36).
The Starfire boys scored 67 points to defeat Garret (55) and Adams Central (34).
Joel Schmidt took first place in the hurdles for the boys team, winning the 110-meter event in 16.2 seconds and the 300 in 41.5. Eric Isch picked up wins in the 1,600 run in 4 minutes, 47 seconds and the 3,200 in 10:24.
Kristen Muselman was first in the 800 run in 2:41 and the 1,600 run in 6:02 to lead the girls team.
Other wins came from Justin Wygant (400 dash) and Ben Meshberger (high jump) for the boys, and Kara Haines (400 dash) and Hannah Moore (3,200 run) for the girls.

Tribe softball falls

HOUSTON, Ohio — Fort Recovery displayed some power Tuesday, but still lost 6-3 to the Houston Wildcats.
Shelby Brunswick’s two-run home run over the fence in right field gave the Indians (3-5) the lead in the first inning, and Taylor Guggenbiller’s solo shot over the left-field fence in the fourth tied the game at three. But Houston tacked on two runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth to take the win.
Andi Sutter took the loss, giving up six runs — four earned — on eight hits and three walks.
Guggenbiller finished 3-for-4, and Olivia Schwieterman added two hits and a run.

SA tennis loses
BERNE — South Adams’ girls tennis team lost 3-2 Tuesday to the visiting Northfield Norsemen.
Mallory Eicher won 7-6, 6-4 over Kalie Smalley for the Starfires at No. 3 singles. Lindsey Graber and Kassy Potts earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Alyssa Richter and Mary Jo Harrell at No. 1 doubles.
Aine O’Donnel fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Alex Fox lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and the team of Abbie Campbell and Holly Taylor fell 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Fort baseball blanked
FORT RECOVERY — The Indians were held without a hit in the Midwest Athletic Conference opener as they fell 16-0 to the Parkway Panthers in five innings.
Chad Schroer took the loss for the Tribe (1-7), allowing eight runs — three earned — on five hits and four walks in three innings.
Collin O’Dell reached base with a walk.[[In-content Ad]]
