Red Devils top Jay County (05/20/05)

The Jay County softball team slipped to 8-16 Thursday with a 4-1 loss to the host Richmond Red Devils.
The Patriots held a brief lead, scoring their lone run in the top of the second inning. But, Richmond scored three times in the bottom of the third thanks to a bases-loaded triple and once in the fifth for the final margin.
Brittany Logue took the loss, alowing four runs — three earned — on six hits. She walked four and struck out two.
Amber Champ had half of Jay County’s four hits and also stole a base. Erica Clark went 1-for-1 with a run and a stolen base, and Miranda Betz had the other hit.
Jay County’s junior varsity team won a marathon game Thursday, 10-6 in 12 innings over the Huntington North Vikings.
Lauren Edmundson paced the Patriot effort as she reached base six of the seven times she came to the plate. She finished 3-for-4 with a double, three walks and two runs.
Brianna Blanton had a pair of doubles and one run, and Amber Detro, Amanda Alberson and Kim Norris added two runs apiece.
Amanda Lowe started and allowed five runs on eight hits in eight innings. Amber Edmundson took the win in relief, giving up just one run on two hits in four innings.[[In-content Ad]]
