Reynard 21st at invite (03/12/07)

Sophomore Brandon Reynard led Jay County Saturday in the Patriot Invitational track meet at Anderson. Reynard took first in his finals heat in the boys 55-meter dash with a time of 7.07. He placed 21st over all.

Reynard also placed 23rd over all in the boys long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 10 inches.

In the shot put finals, Jay County's Lance Franklin and Andrew Lancaster placed third and fourth in their flight. Franklin had a distance of 40 feet, one inch, while Lancaster put the shot 40 feet, three-quarters of an inch. Franklin was 23rd over all, and Lancaster was 24th. Cody Thompson took fifth place in his heat in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 11.23. He was 34th over all.

Steven Kelly placed sixth in his heat in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:24.56, which was good enough for 18th over all.

Brady Mills was 12th in his heat in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:51.61. He was 34th over all.

Five champions

South Adams had five champions Saturday in the A.C.A.C. Middle School Wrestling Invitational, finishing second by one point to Leo.

Champions for South Adams were Todd Batt at 75 pounds, Dustin Wanner at 100 pounds, Jordan Landers at 105 pounds, Josh Ehr at 115 pounds, and Cajon Dailey at 120 pounds.

South Adams had nine finalists and 14 of 16 wrestlers placed in the top ten.

The team finishes the season with a 9-5 dual meet record, a first in the East Jay Invitational and a third in the Adams Central Invitational in addition to Saturday's second-place.

West wins

West Jay Middle Schools wrestlers topped Bluffton last week in a dual meet, 24-18.

Winning with pins in their weight classes were Chase Louck at 95 pounds, Drake Meska at 100 pounds, Nathan Drumm at 120 pounds, Kyle Garringer at 135 pounds, and JV heavyweight Isaac Rogers.

Cardinal to coach

One of the original Geneva Cardinals has been tapped for a baseball head coaching job. Eric Hisner will be coaching for the spring season at Whitko High School. He expects to play for the Cardinals again this summer.[[In-content Ad]]
