Reynard wins all four

JCHS boys track

NEW CASTLE - The win count was even Friday night: Patriots 5, Yorktown 5.

But the Tigers took the top spot in all three relays and added four runner-up efforts to win the New Castle Invitational.

Jay County High School's boys track teams placed second to Yorktown (114) with 78 points. Muncie Southside was third with 69 at the six-team event.

Brandon Reynard carried the bulk of the load for the Patriots, accounting for four of the victories.

The senior finished in 41.72 seconds to win by more than two seconds in the 300-meter hurdles, the event in which he placed fifth in the state last season. He also took the 110 hurdles in 16 seconds flat.

Reynard set the pace in the sprints as well, taking the 100 dash in 11.36 and the 200 dash in 22.85.

Dexter Shreve added the only other victory for JCHS. He took the 400 dash by more than a second in 51.4.

Joe Rasmussen was the only runner-up for the Patriots as he posted a time of 2-minutes, 6.29 seconds in the 800 run. He also teamed with Shreve, Kyle Simmons and Brady Mills for third in the 1,600 relay in 3:42.7, and joined Simmons, Mills and Tevan Nichols to finish third in the 4x800 relay at 8:48.[[In-content Ad]]
