Rockets rally over Decatur

DECATUR — The Portland Rockets made a clean sweep of their main rival Wednesday, earning their fourth win of the season over the host Decatur Dirty Birds 8-6.
The Rockets (26-9, 14-4 Heartland League) rallied after giving up a four-run first inning and took the lead on Ben Smith’s seventh home run of the season. They added two runs in the sixth inning, one of which came on a steal of home by Geoff Bowers, and one in the seventh on a home run by Mark Isenberg.
Jay County High School graduate Thomas McCowan also hit a home run during the comeback, and Heath Williams (JCHS) also singled and scored a run.
After struggling in the first inning, Devin Wilburn bounced back to toss four scoreless frames. Trevor Kill finished off the victory with a pair of scoreless innings.[[In-content Ad]]
