Rockets split vs. Express (06/05/06)

The Portland Rockets split their first double-header of the season Sunday.
Portland dropped the opening game against the Allen Express 5-2, but bounced back to win game two 3-1.
Mike Linder sparked the Rockets (2-1) in their victory as he pitched no-hit back for 41/3 innings. Chad Casey and Jay County High School graduate Mitch Waters followed Linder, each tossing one scoreless inning.
Phil Bruns had a couple of RBIs.
Korey Heppeard took the game-one loss, giving up four runs on seven hits. Josh Jellison, another JCHS graduate, allowed one run as he tossed the final three innings.
Waters had a pair of doubles, and Adam Childs also contributed two hits.
Geneva scores split
The offense came alive for the Geneva Cardinals in game two Sunday as they salvaged a double-header split. Geneva lost its opener 4-1 to the Midwest Prospects, but rallied to win game two 10-7.
Alex Childers finished 2-for-3 in the victory, and Victor Canales and Nate Colclasure also had two hits. Troy Hirschy added a double.
Ricky Schnurr got the win as he struck out four batters.
Nathaniel Glant took a tough loss in game one. He gave up just five hits, but two of them were home runs and the Cardinal offense failed to get on track.[[In-content Ad]]
