Roessner lifts Tribe golfers

Shawn Roessner’s score lifted the Fort Recovery High School boys golf team to victory Tuesday after the Indians finished in a 181-181 tie with the Tri-Village Patriots.
With the top four golfers finishing even, the match came down to the fifth-golfer tiebreaker. Roessner had one par in his round of 48 while the No. 5 Tri-Village golfer was Ryian Burson with a 51.
Jared Kahlig earned medalist honors for FRHS, recording four pars in his round of 43 at Highland Lakes Golf Course. Derek Rammel followed with a 45, Collin O’Dell shot 46 and Gage Retz added a 47.
The Tribe dropped the junior varsity match 189-196 with Hayden Pottkotter and Kent Retz each shooting 46.

’Cats top spikers
MINSTER, Ohio — The Tribe volleyball team slipped to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the Midwest Athletic Conference Tuesday with a 25-11, 25-16, 25-9 loss to the Minster Wildcats.Abby Backs had 12 digs in the loss, and Shelby Brunswick followed with nine. Kayla Kahlig totaled nine assists, and Ericka Lennartz scored six points.
Olivia Thien turned in a team-high of eight kills, and Holly Brunswick added three.
FRHS fell just short in the junior varsity match in a 25-15, 19-25, 29-27 defeat. Emily Link had 10 digs, eight assists and eight points for the Indians.


Runners are last
MINSTER, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s cross country teams each finished third in the three-team field Tuesday evening.
Ryan Heitkamp turned in the top finish for the Indians, taking sixth in the boys race in 18 minutes, nine seconds. Derek Sutter was 16th in 20:17, followed boy Nathan Fullenkamp (18th - 20:30), Joey Gonzalez (21st - 20:52), Adam Pohl (27th - 23:40) and Isaac Keller (28th).
The top three FRHS girls runners finished consecutively with Abby May 13th in 21:51 ahead of Elle Sutter (21:54) and Jessica Vogel (22:20). Samantha Tobe was 17th in 22:43, and Nicole Heitkamp finished 21st in 23:28.
In the junior high competition Caitlyn Huelskamp was 15th in 14:44 for the Fort Recovery girls, and A.J. Jutte let the boys in 16th in 13:50.

MS spikers fall
FORT RECOVERY — The Indians’ eighth grade volleyball team lost 25-11, 26-28, 25-21 Tuesday to the Minster Wildcats while the seventh graders fell 25-19, 25-20.
Cassidy Rammel totaled six kills, five points and a block for the eighth graders. Tori Lennartz had 11 kills, Rachel Pugh finished with eight assists and Haley Knapke scored nine points.
Morgan Lennartz finished with 11 points, one kill one block and one dig for the seventh grade Indians (2-6). Kirsten Jutte scored four points, and Trisha Thien had three assists and two kills.[[In-content Ad]]
