Collegiate Check-up
A Jay County graduate earned a victory in her first collegiate track meet.
Jill Roughia finished first in the 1,600-meter run as her Huntington University women’s track team placed second as hosts of the Frozen Four Meet Jan. 14.
Roughia, a 2005 JCHS graduate, clobbered the field in the mile with a time of 5-minutes, 42 seconds. She was eight seconds ahead of second-place Becca Landers of Manchester.
The freshman also placed second in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:38, just one second off the pace of Manchester’s Stephanie Phillips. She teamed with Sara Bennett, Katie Crandell and Brittany Fillman to win the 4x342 relay in 3:47.
