Roughia wins 800-meter run at Taylor (02/10/07)

A couple of former Patriots competed in the Taylor Invitational Feb. 3, with one coming away with a first-place finish.
Jill Roughia, a 2005 Jay County High School graduate and Huntington University sophomore, won the 800-meter run at the 11-team meet. She defeated Amber Myers of Spring Arbor by just over one second in 2-minutes, 25.47 seconds.
She also teamed with Emily Holliday, Laura Bowman and Vanessa Macias for third place in the distance medley in 13:52.15.
Freshman Alyssa Johnson, who graduated from JCHS in 2006, turned in a ninth-place effort for the Trojans. She finished the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:47.74.
Tyler Niekamp
Fort Recovery - 2003
Hit a couple of 3-pointers in the 20th straight win for the Findlay University men's basketball team.
Niekamp went 2-for-3 from long distance for six points in Tuesday's 83-65 victory over Notre Dame College. He also had three rebounds and one steal for the Oilers, who extended their home winning streak to a nation's best 52 games.
He also had one rebound and one assist in a 79-66 victory Feb. 3 over Hillsdale College.
Nicole VanSkyock
Jay County - 2004
Competed in the Anderson University Invitational Feb. 3 and was part of a winning relay for the host Ravens women's track team.
VanSkyock teamed with Tammy Michaelis, Bethany Allen and Abigail Cochran to win the distance relay with a time of 14-minutes, 11.95 seconds.
The junior also placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:32.94.
Joseph Vormohr
Jay County - 2006
Had a solid first showing for the Hanover College men's track team, which also competed at the Anderson University Invitational.
Vormohr placed third in his debut with the Panthers. His toss of 44 feet, 8.75 inches, put him behind teammate Luke Keller and Jason Fisher of Bluffton.[[In-content Ad]]
