UNION CITY - South Adams High School's boys tennis team earned its second win of the year Wednesday in a 4-1 victory over the Union City Indians.

The Starfire doubles teams set the pace, each winning in straight sets. At No. 1 doubles, Daniel Dynes and Landyn Waugh gave up just three games in topping Jordan Loesch and Zack Holt 6-2, 6-1. Jacob Smith and Kyle Schmidt were nearly as dominant at No. 2 doubles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Derrick Garland and Levi Thornburg.

Kegan Sprunger also turned in a straight-set victory, defeating Danny Lamm 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. In the No. 1 singles match Chase Ingle defeated Ian Armstrong 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

Reid Zurcher suffered the lone loss of the evening for SAHS (2-5) by a 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 score to Adam Barga.

The Starfires also won 4-1 in junior varsity action with Derek Schwartz turning in an 8-0 victory at No. 2 singles.

Indians fall to Coldwater

FORT RECOVERY - Shane Brunswick was in on all three touchdowns for the Fort Recovery High School junior varsity football team, which hung tough Saturday against the Coldwater Cavaliers in a 28-18 loss.

Brunswick tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Aaron Vagedes in the defeat. He also had a 5-yard TD run.
