DECATUR - All the Starfires will be running at regional.
South Adams High School's cross country teams both earned regional berths Tuesday, with the girls finished second and the boys fourth at the sectional meet hosted by Bellmont.
The SAHS girls scored 49 points to finish second out of seven teams behind Homestead (36). The boys had 100 points, finishing behind champion Bellmont (36), Homestead and Norwell in the nine-team field.
The top five teams and top 15 individuals advance to the regional around.
Hannah Moore finished third in 19-minutes, 49 seconds to lead the girls team. Allison Beitler was fifth in 20:04.22, and Sawyer Shane was right behind her in sixth at 20:04.51. Taylor Miller placed 13th in 20:42 for the Starfires, and Jenna Smith was 23rd in 22:33.
Nathan Rupp was the only SAHS boy in the top 15 as he placed eighth in 17:07. Aaron Lehman finished 17th in 17:43 followed by Sam Heckard (20th - 18:06), Gabe Sprunger (23rd - 18:18) and Andrew Smith (34rd - 19:24).
The Starfires will compete in the Marion regional Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

BLUFFTON - A couple of big service runs form Chelsea Grady Tuesday keyed the Jay County High School volleyball team's 25-15, 25-19, 27-25 victory over the Bluffton Tigers.
Grady broke open a close first game by serving 10 consecutive points, and she rallied the Patriots to 24-18 in the second game. She totaled 21 points, including five aces, and 13 digs.
Kelsey Wood had eight kills, three digs and three points, and Sarah Westgerdes added 10 kills and four blocks. Ashley Langenkamp put up eight assists.
Competing in rodeo
Jay County High School senior Richie Rudrow will compete in calf roping at the Indiana High School Rodeo Association event Saturday and Sunday in Bartonia.
The rodeo southeast of Winchester will be Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. The top four competitors in each event will earn a berth in the national finals next year in Farmington, New Mexico.[[In-content Ad]]
