SA squanders 7-0 advantage (05/26/07)

Local roundup

BERNE - A seven-run lead turned out to not be quite enough for the Starfires.

The South Adams baseball team scored four times in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead, but the Delta Eagles followed with 11 unanswered runs for an 11-7, nine-inning victory.

Daniel Bollenbacher suffered the loss as Delta rallied with four runs in the fifth inning, three in the seventh to tie it and four in the ninth. He gave up seven of those runs - six earned - on seven hits and two walks.

Bollenbacher also had the top offensive night for the Starfires as he went 2-for-3 with a home run. He scored twice and drove in three runs.

Jordan Sharp was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Andrew Caffee and Tyler Neuenschwander each had two hits and Trent Moore scored twice.
