SA wins fifth straight

FORT WAYNE — The South Adams High School girls golf team improved to 5-0 on the season Thursday as it defeated the Fort Wayne South Side Archers and host Fort Wayne North Side Redskins at McMillen Golf Course.
The Starfires were once again led by sophomore Sydney Willis, who fired a season-best 37 to give South Adams a 176-203 victory over second place South Side.
North Side finished third with a 238.
Willis converted pars on four holes on her way to a four-stroke victory over South Side’s Zoe Brehm.
Alleigh Wingler (44), Kelli Lehmnan (46) and Jaci Gorrell (49) rounded out the Starfires’ top four. Wingler and Gorrell both posted season bests for a nine-hole round.
JC girls tie
MONROEVILLE — The Jay County High School girls soccer team is still searching for its first win as the Patriots tied the host Heritage Patriots 0-0.
The visiting Patriots (0-0-2), who tied Richmond 2-2 in their season opener, controlled the ball for the majority of the game, but could not convert on scoring chances as they fired six shots on goal.
Alex Loy led Jay County with three shots. Gabbie Mann had two shots on net, and Ericka Reynolds added one.

Fort golfers fall
VAN WERT, Ohio — The Fort Recovery boys golf team lost its fourth straight match, falling to the Ottoville Big Green and Lincolnview Lancers Wednesday in a three-team match at Hickory Sticks Golf Club.
Stewy Alig shot a 43 to lead the Indians, who posted a 182. Alig shot even on the par-3 13th hole and par-5 15th, and bogeyed the remaining seven.
Elijah Kahlig finished one shot behind Alig. His round included one birdie and four pars.
The par-4 16th hole was the best hole for the Tribe, who shot two-under-par as a team, with Chase Bruns and Kahlig making birdie.
Brendon Schnipke earned medalist honors for Ottoville with a 38, and the Big Green won the match with a team score of 162.
Joshah Rager led second-place Lincolnview with a 41 as the Lancers posted a 175 as a team.[[In-content Ad]]
