SAHS bashes host Knights

WABASH — There was no slowing down the Starfires Saturday.
The South Adams High School baseball team scored at least once in every inning in an 18-0, five inning destruction of the host Southwood Knights.
Corey Seffernick led the onslaught for the Starfires (8-6) with two hits, three RBIs and three runs. Blake Fox added a single, a double, four RBIs and a run, and Dustin Wanner had three runs and three RBIs.
Nick Batt and Kyle Raugh combined on a one-hitter for SAHS, which scored six times in the third inning to push the lead to double digits. Batt struck out five batters while walking two in four innings of work, and Raugh had two strikeouts in one inning.
Softball fights back
PARKER CITY — South Adams rallied from a 7-1 deficit to top the host Monroe Central Golden Bears 12-9.
The Starfires (7-9) tied the game with six runs in the fifth inning, and each team scored twice in the sixth. SAHS then posted three runs in the top of the seventh for the final margin.
Alyssa Bluhm was a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs and an RBI to lead South Adams. Brianna Nevil had three hits, three RBIs and two runs, and Lily Taing added three hits and three RBIs.
Bluhm earned the win, striking out six batters as she went the distance. She allowed nine runs — eight earned — on 14 hits and three walks.[[In-content Ad]]
