SAHS golfers fall to Indians (08/26/2008)

GENEVA - The South Adams High School girls golf team slipped back below .500 Monday, falling 219-206 to the visiting Mississinewa Indians at Wabash Valley Golf Club.
Lauren Flores of Mississinewa earned medalist honors with a 48.
Kara Lehman paced the Starfires (3-4) with a 52. She bogied three of the first six holes and closed her day with a par on the 85-yard, par-3 ninth.
Alyssa Neuenschwander also parred the ninth as she shot 53, and Tricia Crider parred the 408-yard, par-5 eighth hole en route to a 55. Kaytlyn Pierce rounded out the team score with a 59, and Grace Dobler shot 61.
Kristen Lehman and Sarah Muselman each shot 59 for the SAHS junior varsity squad, which posted a 247. The Indians did not have enough players for a full JV team.
Eagles defeat gridders
Jay County's junior varsity and freshman football teams each fell Monday night to the Delta Eagles.
The JV Patriots traveled to Delta and lost 36-0 while the JCHS freshmen hosted the Eagles in a 58-14 defeat.
Eric Beougher did the bulk of the offensive work for Jay County's freshman team, racking up 138 yards on the ground. He also scored both Patriot touchdowns.
Seth Trumbo added 60 rushing yards and a 2-point conversion.
FR, UC spikers split
UNION CITY - Fort Recovery Middle School's eighth grade volleyball team used some outstanding serving to defeat Union City Westside 25-8, 25-11 Monday evening. The seventh graders fell, 25-16, 25-13.
Janelle Schwieterman racked up eight of the eighth grade team's 14 aces. She scored 10 points, and also had a kill and an assist.
Chelsea Pottkotter added nine points, including four aces, three kills and a block, Kelsey Fiely had five kills and Emily Link totaled two assists.
In the seventh grade match, Jackie Fullenkamp led the Indians with five kills. Lexie Schmitz scored three points.
Laux aces 15
Larry Laux wasn't satisfiedwith just one.
Laux, Portland, made the second hole-in-one of his career Friday on the 15th hole at Portland Golf Club. He aced the 200-yard, par-3 15th hole using a 4-wood.
