SA's LeFever up for award

South Adams High School senior Taylor LeFever has been nominated for the Army Iron Man award for his efforts in the Starfires’ football game Friday against Bluffton.
LeFever ran for 133 yards and scored both SAHS touchdowns on runs of 27 and 72 yards. He added a 34-yard field goal and also had one tackle.
He is one of eight players nominated for the award, which “honors Indiana’s best two-way high school football players”.

Bellmont tops SA
GENEVA — It was a balanced effort for South Adams Wednesday, but the Starfire girls golf team lost 206-217 to the visiting Bellmont Squaws.
Kristal All, Abbie Fisher and Kristen Lehman all shot 54 for SAHS at Golf Club of the Limberlost. All finished with a par and three bogeys, Fisher had a par and two bogeys and Lehman recorded three bogeys.
Bellmont’s Amber Fuhrman was the medalist with a 49.
Samantha Schwartz completed the team score with a 55, and Adrienne Pursley shot 61.

Tribe falls to Versailles
CELINA, Ohio — The Fort Recovery boys golf team dropped a 174-208 decision Tuesday to the Versailles Tigers at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.
Jared Kahlig turned in the best score for the Indians with one par on the way to a 47. Versailles’ Josh Barlage was the medalist at 39.
Gage Retz shot 50 for the Indians, and Elijah Kahlig added a 54. Derek Rammel completed the team score with a 57.
Collin O’Dell and Stewy Alig each shot 54 for the FRHS junior varsity team, which lost 186-221 to the Tigers.

Selma tops EJMS
SELMA — East Jay Middle School’s sixth grade volleyball team fell 25-9, 25-16 Tuesday to Selma.
Lizzy Schoenlein had serve kills and two aces in the defeat. Deanna Chenoweth added four kills.
The Chiefs’ B team got four aces and two kills from Abby Barcus in a 25-24, 25-24 defeat.[[In-content Ad]]
