Seniors are key to win
JCHS girls golf
GENEVA — With all three of its seniors in the lineup for the first time this season, the Jay County High School girls golf team matched its best score of the year Tuesday in a 185-214 victory over the host South Adams Starfires.
Seniors Abby Denney, Macey Gerber and Cara Garringer all played three holes at par or better, with Denney recording the lone birdie on the 406-yard, par-5 eighth hole at Golf Club of the Limberlost. She added two pars and five bogies on the way to medalist honors with a 43.
Abbie Fisher turned in the top score for South Adams with a 51.
In just her second outing of the year, Garringer turned in the No. 2 score for the Patriots with pars on the fourth, seventh and ninth holes en route to a 44. Gerber parred two of the first four holes and added a third on No. 8 as she shot 46.
Brittany Stevens completed the team score for JCHS with a 52, and Alysia Fennig had a 55.
Kristen Lehman and Sam Schwartz each shot 53 for the Starfires, and Kristal All finished off the team score a 57. Adrienne Pursley totaled a 64.
In junior varsity competition Whitney Gray shot 60 for Jay County, and Cortney Myers had a 73.[[In-content Ad]]
