Shreve wins 3 as Jay takes 2nd (04/28/08)

NEW CASTLE - Another triple win from Dexter Shreve pushed the Jay County High School boys track team to a second-place finish Friday at the New Castle Invitational.
The Patriots scored 108 points, finishing second behind Muncie Southside (122.5). Yorktown was third with 101 points at the six-team event.
Shreve, who broke the school's 400-meter record a day earlier, won the event again in a time of 51.7 seconds. He also had great days in the jumps, winning the long jump at 21 feet, 3/4 inches and the high jump at 6 feet, 3 inches.
Brandon Reynard and Patrick Williams each added individual wins for the Patriots, who are now 12-7 overall on the year. Reynard posted a time of 41.3 seconds in the 300 hurdles, and Patrick Williams took the 100 dash.
Jay County also won the 4x100 relay, and was second in the 4x400 relay.
Zach Cash followed Reynard in third place in the 300 hurdles at 45.5. Sean Hatzell gave the Patriots their other top-three effort, taking third with a time of 23.9 in the 200 dash.[[In-content Ad]]
