South Adams blasts Blackford (08/20/07)

HARTFORD CITY - The Starfires scored all the goals they needed in the first half, then made their game a blow-out with a second-half barrage.
South Adams' girls soccer team scored five of its seven goals in the second half Saturday, rolling over the host Blackford Bruins 7-1.
Jaci Liechty gave the Starfires the winning score at the mid-point of the first half off an assist from Jodie Muhlenkamp.
Tara Beitler, one of three SAHS players to finish the game with four points, scored the first goal of the game. She added two second-half assists, both of which led to goals by Ashton Morgan.
Maddie Moore also scored twice in the second half as South Adams put the game out of reach. Sherri All had the other Starfire goal in the contest.
South Adams totaled 26 shots on goal, 13 in each half, compared to just two scoring tries for the Bruins.

The Starfires took a step in the right direction Saturday, forging a 1-1 tie with the host Blackford Bruins after dropping their first two games 5-0 to New Haven and 2-0 to Bellmont.
Blackford had the early lead thanks to a score from Clint Blackburn. Meanwhile, SAHS missed on its four first-half shots on goal.
But Blake Bauman evened the tally for the Starfires in the second half on an assist from Travis Lavy. They had a chance to take the lead as well, but failed to convert a penalty kick.
Lavy led South Adams, taking four of its nine shots on goal.[[In-content Ad]]
