South Adams drops 17th straight

HARTFORD CITY - The South Adams High School boys basketball team closed its season with a 17th straight loss Saturday, falling 69-53 to the host Blackford Bruins.
A rough start for the Starfires (1-18) saw Blackford score the first six points and roll out to a 23-7 lead. It went up by as many as 21 points, but SAHS clawed back to within eight with an 8-0 run in the third quarter.
However, the Bruins halted the comeback and pushed their lead back to 17 points in the fourth quarter.
Nick Teeter scored 34 points, burying 10 3-pointers in the defeat. He also had four rebounds.
Nick Munger was the No. 2 scorer for South Adams with nine points.
Franklin Christ led Blackford with 21 points and nine rebounds, and Blake Muselman added 17 points, five boards and four assists.
In junior varsity action, Mark Muselman had 10 points for the Starfires in a 31-29 defeat.
Three Chiefs win
CRAWFORDSVILLE - East Jay Middle School picked up three championships Saturday competing in the Super 13 Wrestling Invitational at Southmont.
Alex Abbott racked up four victories on the day to win the 80-pound title, running his record to 16-2 on the year. Colton Compton (70) and Conner Ray (90) each went 3-0 to win championships.
Mitchell Bruggeman (75), Kaleb Toland (110), Preston Keen (135) and Zach Metcalf (145) all finished with one loss and took second place. Third-place finishes came from Matt Blackford (90), Ryan Tinkham (155) and Chris Pfeifer (245).[[In-content Ad]]
