South Adams drops to 0-6 in ACAC

BERNE — The Starfires weren’t able to do much to slow down Woodlan in the opening half.
South Adams High School’s boys basketball team gave up 22 points in each of the first two quarters Saturday as it dropped its 12th straight game, 65-37 to the visiting Warriors.
The Starfires (2-12, 0-6 Allen County Athletic Conference) fell behind by 16 points after the opening period. They committed 17 turnovers while shooting just 32 percent from the field. Conner Sealscott had eight points and six rebounds to lead SAHS.
Dustin Dellinger, Blake Fox and Cal Clouser added six points apiece.
Kadin Gerig led three Warriors in double figures with 21 points. Jaylin Bennett had 16 points, nine rebounds and two blocks for Woodlan (9-9, 2-4 ACAC), and Shawn McGettigan scored 15.
South Adams dropped the junior varsity game 44-33 with Wes Thompson scoring a team-high eight points.

Starfire girls fall
DECATUR — The South Adams girls basketball team was shut out in the opening period Friday as it lost 35-21 to the host Bellmont Squaws.
Alyssa Bluhm scored nine points to lead the Starfires (7-12), who trailed 11-0 after the first eight minutes. They turned the ball over six times in the first quarter.

Lauren Smith followed with six points, and Sharon Balsiger scored three.
Taylor Kuhnle powered Bellmont (5-15) with 18 points. Amanda Hunter added eight.
South Adams dropped the junior varsity game, 26-17.

EJ sixth wins
East Jay’s sixth grade girls basketball team fought off visiting Delta for a 31-29 victory Thursday.
Hannah Phillips scored seven points to lead the Chiefs to the win. Kendra Muhlenkamp and Klarisa Hemmelgarn added six points apiece.
EJMS won the B team game 24-23 in double overtime with Gwen Omstead scoring nine points.
