South Adams fourth at New Haven

NEW HAVEN — Three South Adams High School wrestlers won their respective weight classes as the Starfires placed fourth Saturday at the New Haven Invitational.
South Adams had a team score of 150.5, with third-ranked Penn grabbing the team title with 235 points.
Sawyer Miller earned a 6-1 victory over Woodlan’s Shaun Snyder for the 120-pound weight division title. Matt Nussbaum took first at 138 with a 6-5 win over New Haven’s Kyle Bender, and Boaz Marbach won by a 7-2 decision over Kade Hensley from Penn at 14.
Kadin Gerber (106) and Klayton Hinshaw (182) both earned runner-up honors, and Andrew Beachey (182) finished third.

Fort freshmen fall
VERSAILLES, Ohio — The Fort Recovery freshman boys basketball team fell Monday to the Versailles Tigers.
Micaiah Cox led the Indians with 17 points, and Caleb Martin chipped in 15.
Jason Roessner added eight points for the Tribe.

FRMS boys win a pair
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Middle School seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams both earned wins Monday over Union City.
The Tribe eighth graders won 40-24, and the seventh graders edged Union City 42-40.
Cade Wendel scored a team-high eight points for the eighth grade Indians.
Evan Post and Ethan Schoen both contributed five points for Fort Recovery.
Payton Jutte led the Tribe seventh graders with 15 points, and Derek Siefring and Mason Will chipped in nine and six points respectively.
On Saturday, the FRMS eighth graders won 35-23 at New Bremen, with Ryan Braun leading the way with 14 points. Wendel added 11 points in the win over the Cardinals.
Jutte, Will and Siefring each scored five points Saturday as the Tribe fell to New Bremen 33-23.

Eagles fall to Northside
MUNCIE — Gabe Faulkner and Wyatt Geesaman both scored 15 points for the West Jay seventh grade boys basketball team Monday, but it was not enough as the Eagles fell to Muncie Northside 40-35.
The West Jay eighth graders also fell to the Titans, 34-22.
Geesaman grabbed eight rebounds and nabbed three steals to go with his double-digit scoring effort, and Faulkner also tallied four rebounds and two assists.
Nick Rains had four points and seven rebounds, and Noah Harris added six rebounds for the WJMS seventh graders (3-4).
Cole Stigleman scored eight points in the loss for the eighth grade Eagles. Garret Rodgers and Holton Hill each added five points, and Max Moser and Nathan Hamilton both scored two.
The West Jay eighth graders fell to 5-2 on the season.

Tribe, Marion Local split
MARIA STEIN, Ohio — The FRMS eighth grade girls basketball team held Marion Local to single digits Thursday, defeating the Flyers 31-9.
The seventh grade Indians fell to Marion Local 31-27.
Grace Thien scored seven points to lead the Tribe eighth graders. Chloe Metzger and Carley Stone each added six points, and Heather Klenke and Bridget Pottkotter both chipped in four.
Hannah Knapke and Faith Kahlig tallied eight points to lead the Fort Recovery seventh graders, and Brooke Gaerke netted six. Audrey Guggenbiller and Aleigha Jenkins both scored two points.[[In-content Ad]]
