South Adams girls golfers are 7-0

MARION — The South Adams High School girls golf team remains unbeaten behind the play of Sydney Willis, as the Starfires defeated the Mississinewa Indians and the Southern Wells Raiders on Monday at Marion Elks Country Club.
Mississinewa finished second with a team score of 210 and Southern Wells placed third with 226.
Willis, the Starfires’ sophomore standout, fired a season-low 33 to lead South Adams in the three-team meet. She made birdie on the 256-yard, par-4 second, the 220-yard, par-4 fourth and the 113-yard, par-3 ninth.
Her 3-under gave her a 15-stroke lead over Mississinewa’s Kylee Elliot.
Allegh Wingler shot a 48, and Kelli Lehman and Jaci Gorrell shot a 49 and 51 respectively to give the Starfires a 181 team score.

JCHS girls win

The Jay County girls golfers won in dominating fashion Monday at Portland Golf Club, defeating the Bluffton Tigers and Monroe Central Golden Bears.
Bluffton placed second with a 245, and Monroe Central finished third with a 259.
Katlin Petro posted a 49 to lead the Patriots and earn match medalist honors. She shot even on the 275-yard, par-4 first and the 284-yard par-4 third.
Maddison Baughn placed second for Jay County with a 50, including a birdie on the par-3 second.
Sydney Mathias and Abby Saxman posted identical scores of 54 to round out the Patriots’ 207 team score.
The Patriots host Sydney Willis and Adams County rival South Adams at 4:30 p.m. today at Portland Golf Club.[[In-content Ad]]
