South Adams knocks off Warriors

MUNCIE — The South Adams High School girls golf team picked up a 244-258 victory Wednesday over the host Wes-Del Warriors at Muncie Elks Golf Course.
Kristen Lehman carried the Starfires to their victory, shooting eight strokes better than anyone else on the course. She had a par on the second hole and closed with four consecutive bogies to finish with a 49.
The top score for Wes-Del was a 57 from Olivia Yeakle.
Adrianne Pursley had a couple of bogeys as she finished with a 57 for South Adams, and Sam Schwartz and Krystal All each shot 69. Kylie Cisney finished at 81.
South Adams also played in the Blackford Invitational Thursday. The Starfires finished last in the 10-team field at Blackford Golf Club with a score of 51. Alexandria was ninth at 476.
Lapel posted a 373 to win the tournament by 11 strokes over Hagerstown. Anderson’s Morgan Nadaline earned medalist honors with a 79.
Jay team qualifies
KOKOMO — Darrin Martin and Jeremy Kunkler teamed to turn in the top finish for the Jay County Special Olympics golf team Aug. 7 at the Indiana Special Olympics regional golf tournament.
Martin and Kunkler picked up the bronze medal, which qualified them for the state tournament. They will play again Aug. 21 in Indianapolis.[[In-content Ad]]
