South Adams soccer ends with tie (08/25/07)

FORT WAYNE - The first win of the season eluded the South Adams boys soccer team again Thursday as it settled for a 4-4 tie the with the Fort Wayne North Side Redskins.
The Starfires (0-2-2) built a 3-2 lead in the first half on the power of two goals and an assist from Adam McLaughlin.
McLaughlin tallied his first goal 8:30 into the game on a penalty kick, and then scored again with 10 minutes to go in the opening half off an assist from Shane Swygart. He assisted on a goal by Zack Sharp five minutes later.
The only SAHS goal of the second half also came from Sharp on an assist by McLaughlin, but North Side followed with two goals to even the score.
Tyler Sprunger finished with four saves for South Adams.
Tribe golfers fall
CELINA - The Minster Wildcats posted four scores in the 30s Thursday at Mercer County Elks Golf Club to hand the Fort Recovery boys golf team a 155-191 defeat.
Tommy Staugler totaled four pars in his first six holes for a solid start and finished with a team-best score of 45 for the Indians. Ben Hogenkamp earned match-medalist honors for Minster with a 38, and John Eiting, Matt Brackman and Adam Sherman each had 39s.
Brady Kahlig had two pars in his round of 47 for Fort Recovery, and Brandon Steinbrunner recorded the lone birdie on the way to a 49. Dustin Grieshop rounded out the team score with a 50, Travis Hart shot 53 and Zac Schoenherr finished at 56.[[In-content Ad]]
