Southwood tops Stars

WABASH - A pitchers' duel unraveled in the fifth inning Wednesday and the South Adams High School baseball team suffered a 6-3 loss to the host Southwood Knights.

The game was tied at 1-1 through four innings and the Starfires went scoreless in the top of the fifth. Southwood broke the game open in the bottom with four runs thanks tow a wild pitch and a pair of RBI singles.

Andrew Smith took the loss, giving up three runs - two earned - on four hits and two walks.

Kyle DeArmond took care of all of the SAHS offense with an RBI singles in the fourth inning and a two-run home run in the sixth.

Eyanson leads WJ

PONETO - Dalton Eyanson picked up another pair of wins Wednesday in leading the West Jay Middle School boys track team to victory. The Eagles scored 73 points to defeat Montpelier (53) and host Southern Wells (13).

The first win for Eyanson led a one-two WJMS finish as he took the 110-meter hurdles with teammate Shelby Wendel in second place. He was also first in the 400 dash.

Blake Crouch finished first in the 100 dash, and Dylan Harris won the 800 run. The Eagles also had two field event wins from Tyler Back in the shot put and Kaelen Jewell in the long jump.

Wendel, Crouch, Back and Lucas Wiemer teamed to take the top spot in the 4x100 relay.[[In-content Ad]]
