FRANKLIN — Jay County bounced back from five straight losses, earning a victory at the Franklin Invitational Saturday.

The Patriot volleyball team went 1-2 in the tournament, defeating South Decatur 25-23, 25-20. It also lost 25-7, 30-28 to the host Grizzly Cubs and 25-19, 25-13 to Greenfield-Central.

Junior setter Erica Clark led Jay County (5-16) to its victory, posting team highs of nine assists, six kills, five aces and two blocks. She also had one dig.

Theresa Reinhart finished with seven digs and four kills. Ashley Horn had five digs, Shelby Rines notched three aces and Markie Runyon had a pair of blocks.

Clark led the team in assists and finished second on the squad in kills in each of the other two matches. She had 13 assists and four kills against Franklin Community and nine assists and two kills versus Greenfield-Central. She added two blocks in the loss to Greenfield-Central.

Reinhart notched seven digs and two aces as the Patriots fell to Franklin Community. Runyon had six kills, and Rines followed with four kills.

Against Greenfield-Central Reinhart posted team bests of 10 digs, three kills and two aces. Kelly Sautbine had five digs, Runyon notched two kills and two blocks and Sarah Mescher added a pair of kills.[[In-content Ad]]
