Squaws hand SA fifth loss in a row (09/11/2008)

GENEVA - The South Adams High School girls golf team dropped its fifth straight Wednesday, falling 193-220 to the Bellmont Squaws.
No Starfires broke 50 as Kara Lehman posted their best score with a 51. She had pars on the 335-yard, par-4 fourth hole and the 85-yard, par-3 ninth, and also had three bogeys.
Mallorie Phegley of Bellmont picked up medalist honors with a 43. SAHS is 3-8 on the season.
Tricia Crider parred the 282-yard, par-4 opening hole and had three bogeys en route to a 54, and Jansen Yoder parred the ninth hole on the way to a 57. Alyssa Neuenschwander rounded out the team score with three bogeys for a 58.
Grace Dobler shot 59, and Kaytlyn Pierce finished at 61.
South Adams' junior varsity team shot 263 led by a 63 from Kristen Lehman. Bellmont did not have enough golfers to post a team score.
EJ spikers fall to Selma
The East Jay Middle School volleyball A team lost 25-11, 25-9 Wednesday to Selma. The B team won 25-11, 24-25, 15-7.
Jessica Kerrigan finished with 13 points and four assists to lead the Chiefs, and Breanne McIntire followed with 12 points and three kills. Michelle Wellman had nine points and three kills.
Emily Westgerdes matched Kerrigan with 13 points, Catherine Dunn totaled eight digs and Faith Parr had four digs.[[In-content Ad]]
