PONETO — Senior middle hitter Alyssa Bluhm fired 21 kills
Tuedsay as the South Adams High School volleyball team defeated the Southern Wells Raiders 23-25, 25-28, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11.
Cady Farlow tallied 14 kills and led the Starfires’ defense with 18 digs. Lauren Smith and Bluhm each added 10 digs, and Bluhm totaled 14 assists.
Morgan Alberson and Caralie Farlow added eight and six digs respectively, and Kylie Pierce added four digs.
In junior varsity action, the Starfires fell to the Raiders, 21-25, 25-16, 13-15.
Kylie Grabau led the Starfire offense with seven kills, while she, Casi Evans and Treva Clingenpeel added three aces each.
Defensively, Chastity Guereca tallied seven digs for South Adams, while Clingenpeel and Evans added five and four digs respectively.
The Starfires return to the court at 6 p.m. Thursday as they host the Bluffton Tigers.

BLUFFTON — Joe Stuber threw two touchdown passes to Terry Dawn and totaled 197 yards of total offense as the South Adams eighth grade football team edged the Bluffton Tigers Thursday,13-12.
Stuber rushed for 103 yards on nine carries and was two-of-three passing for 94 yards as the Starfires improved to 2-0 on the season.
Dawn reeled in a 53-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, and caught another for 41 yards in the second.
Stuber led the defense for the Starfires, recording 12 tackles. Isaiah Baumgartner added nine tackles and an interception, while Bodin Sikes and Grant Shaffer added five tackles each.
