Starfire spikers fall to Huntington (10/04/05)

BERNE — The South Adams volleyball team lost its 20th match of the season Monday, falling 25-12, 28-26, 25-8 to the Huntington North Vikings.
Senior setter Alyssa Miller paced the Starfires (6-20) in the defeat with a team high of 12 assists. She also shared the team high of four digs with Maranda Potts and Amber Melick.
Renee Neuenschwander finished with five kills, two blocks and one ace, and Andrea Moser had five blocks, three kills and an ace. Brooke Fox added three kills.
South Adams also dropped the junior varsity match to Huntington North, 25-8, 25-15.
Fort girls place fourth
BOTKINS, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls cross country team followed up its first victory with a fourth-place finish at the Botkins Invitational Saturday.
The Indians scored 150 points, placing fourth behind Division III No. 1 Minster (34), Division III No. 5 Versailles (60) and Lincolnview (114). They won the Brookville Invitational a week earlier.
Mindy Vogel paced Fort Recovery’s girls as she placed 18th, and Tina Roessner followed in 20th. Samantha Bihn was 31st, Sandra Sudhoff finished 35th and Lindsay Sudhoff took 61st.
The Tribe boys finished 15th at Botkins led by Mitch Fullenkamp in 37th and Jim Roessner in 50th. Matt Heinrichs was 112th, Tyler Huelskamp finished 115th and Joel Bey was 122nd.
Tribe sixth in junior high
BOTKINS, Ohio — The Fort Recovery junior high girls cross country team placed sixth at the Botkins Invitational, scoring 191 points. Minster won with 27 points.
The Indian boys team did not have enough runners to post a team score.
Amber Heitkamp was first for the Fort Recovery girls in 26th place, and Abby Huelskamp took 39th. Alexia Sutter was 49th, Claire Wendel finished 53rd and Kelly Wendel was 93rd.
Caleb Heitkamp led the three Tribe boys runners in 35th. Alan Vogel finished 44th, and Ryan Heitkamp was 49th.[[In-content Ad]]
